Terms of Service
Important: ContractChecker is an AI-powered information tool. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Nothing on this website or produced by this service constitutes legal advice. By using ContractChecker you agree to these terms in full.
1. Who we are
ContractChecker ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered contract analysis service operated from the United Kingdom. We can be contacted at hello@contractchecker.uk.
2. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using ContractChecker at contractchecker.uk (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the Service.
We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
3. Nature of the service — not legal advice
ContractChecker uses artificial intelligence to analyse contract text and provide information about potential risks, clause meanings, and general recommendations. This output is for informational purposes only.
Specifically, you acknowledge and agree that:
- ContractChecker does not provide legal advice of any kind
- No solicitor-client relationship is created by using this Service
- The analysis produced is generated by AI and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies
- AI analysis cannot substitute for the professional judgement of a qualified solicitor
- You should always consult a qualified solicitor before making legal or financial decisions based on any contract
- The law varies by jurisdiction and ContractChecker does not guarantee that its analysis is applicable to your specific legal context
3a. AI-generated clause suggestions — important notice
ContractChecker's Legal tier includes AI-generated suggested alternative clause language ("Suggested Rewrites"). You acknowledge and agree that:
- Suggested Rewrites are provided for negotiation reference purposes only and do not constitute legal drafting, legal advice, or solicitor services
- Suggested Rewrites are AI-generated and may be inaccurate, incomplete, inappropriate for your jurisdiction, or unsuitable for your specific circumstances
- You must not insert Suggested Rewrites directly into any contract without first obtaining independent legal review from a qualified solicitor
- ContractChecker accepts no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage, or consequence arising from your use of or reliance on Suggested Rewrites
- By using the Suggested Rewrite feature you confirm you understand it is a negotiation starting point only and assume all risk of acting upon it
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ContractChecker and its operators shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of or reliance on the Service, including but not limited to:
- Any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Any losses arising from decisions made in reliance on AI-generated analysis
- Any losses arising from errors or inaccuracies in the analysis provided
- Any losses arising from your failure to obtain independent legal advice
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.
5. Your use of the Service
You agree to use ContractChecker only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Upload contracts or documents containing information that you do not have the right to share
- Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or replicate the Service
- Use the Service to train, develop, or improve any competing AI model or product
- Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service
- Attempt to circumvent the free analysis limit through technical means
- Use the Service for any fraudulent or illegal purpose
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, code, branding, and content, is owned by ContractChecker and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.
The text of contracts you submit remains your property. By submitting contract text you grant us a temporary, limited licence to process that text solely for the purpose of providing the analysis you requested.
7. Availability
We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times or free from errors. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.
8. Third party services
ContractChecker uses third party AI services to process contract text. By using the Service you acknowledge that contract text is transmitted to these third party processors for the sole purpose of generating analysis. We take reasonable steps to ensure these processors maintain appropriate security standards.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
